Rebecca "Becky" Leigh Chadwick went to be with our Lord on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at age 56, surrounded by her loving family.

Becky is survived by her husband of 38 years, Mark, and their three children: Mark II, Ariel, Bronwyn, and five grandchildren: Elizabeth, Andrew, Travis, Tobias, and Joslyn along with numerous extended family members.

Becky was born to Bill and Jean Bass on December 11, 1964 in Merced, California, and as they say got to Texas as soon as she could. Becky is survived by her mother and preceded in death by her father. She was the oldest of four children. She primarily grew up in San Antonio alongside her sister and brothers: Melissa, Mitchell, and Wesley. She was raised in a devoted Christian home in a military family. The beliefs and principles she learned during that time have been passed down to her children and grandchildren.

In 1981, during her junior year at John Jay High School, she met her husband, Mark. After two years of dating and an engagement, they were married on September 3, 1983. She dedicated her life to service through support of her husband while in the military and law enforcement, later the ministry, and finally in emergency management. She loved to travel with Mark, whether it be on a cruise in the Caribbean or just a simple road trip through the Texas Hill Country. One of her favorite pastimes was reading fantasy and romance novels. She was also fiercely competitive while enjoying board games or her card game of choice, Shanghai.

Becky had many talents, the best of which being baking and stitching. She was an accomplished baker having done so for many years for different family, church, and work events as well as competitively at county fairs. She took up the hobby of counted cross-stitch early in life, which in turn bloomed into a passion yielding beautiful works of art. She was highly accomplished having won many awards at multiple venues. She would later go on to adopt the moniker, the South Texas Stitcher, which she used in video blogs to pass on her knowledge and passion to other aspiring stitchers.

However, her biggest accomplishment has been supporting and raising a family. The lessons and values she imparted can never be surpassed. She will be tremendously missed by the family, friends and other lives she has touched.

On November 9th at Lackland Baptist Church, 2718 Frontier Dr, San Antonio, TX 78227, a viewing will be held at 11:00am to be followed by services at 12:15 pm. The burial will follow that afternoon at 2:00 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
