James Dutton, of Sylvan Springs, went to be with the Lord on October 14, 2021, at the age of 87. James served in the Army and was a master carpenter, until retiring at the age of 70. He was a member of Maytown Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather Estelle and Coleman James, father and step-mother James and Evelyn Dutton, sister Ella Mae Swindle, and brother Robert R. Dutton. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Brenda Cook Dutton; son Thomas; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters Shirley Burgett and Barbara Atkins; brother John B. Dutton; and numerous nieces and nephews. The visitation will be Monday, October 18, 2021, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM, at Peoples Chapel Funeral. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, at the Funeral Home, with Rev, Jimmy King officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
