One of God's Gifts to All of Us

Jon Peterson packed a lot of living in 36 years! He took his last earthly breath on August 16, 2021, at his home in Hugoton, Kansas, following a long health battle. A celebration of Jon's life will be held October 23, 2021 in Duluth, Minnesota.

Jon was born October 22, 1984 in New Jersey, and grew up in Superior, Wisconsin, with enduring connections in Duluth. An entrepreneur, traveler, thinker, and brilliant lifelong learner, Jon was a vibrant character who could be found enjoying life with his friends, deeply engrossed in his next significant venture, or running the table at the local pool halls.

His resolute heart overflowed with enthusiasm as he faced challenges and engaged the world around him. Jon reached out with compassion as a defender to the less fortunate. He had a keen ability to connect with others of all ages at their level. His kind heart, wit, creativity, and sense of humor are forever etched in the lives of those who were privileged to know him well.

Jon graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008 with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Commerce and Business Administration. His indefatigable spirit, mental athleticism, and the support of his family and friends caused him to thrive in the wake of the national economic crisis by discovering a passion as an Instrumentation and Automation Control Technician (IACT) in the production of alternative fuels.

At the time of his passing, Jon was excelling in the Academy of Advanced Manufacturing, working towards his IACT Certification through Rockwell Automation, while employed by Seaboard Energy. Concurrently he was making significant headway in the prototyping phase of his entrepreneurial robotics venture, and was working on an impressive indoor vertical gardening project.

Much glory to God his creator for endowing Jon with all these amazing attributes and more! Many thanks to Him as well for blessing all of us with this one whose name meant, "The Lord has given a defender."

Left with many fond and amusing memories are Jon's parents, David and Carlene Peterson, grandmother, Joy Driessen, sister Erica Peterson, brother Joshua and his wife Lyndsay Peterson, and numerous other relatives and friends, all who were blessed to experience the lighthearted and encouraging presence Jon carried so well.

A celebration of Jon's life was held at Rock Hill Community Church, 2401 W. 5th St, Duluth, MN.

Consider making a donation in Jon's name to www.crossing-outreach.org (a group that impacts vulnerable populations in St. Joseph, MO), the Epilepsy Foundation (www.epilepsy.com), or to another benevolent charity. Take a minute to read more about Jon, and to post a memory, tribute, good laugh, or condolence online at https://www.charterfunerals.com/obituary/jonathan-peterson.
