ZIRNGIEBEL, George Edward "Ducky", Sr., 89, of Pembroke, died October 2, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born in Randolph to Arthur and Mabel (Welch) Zirngiebel on January 1, 1932. After graduating from Stetson High School, George proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Edith "Edie" Glover on April 24, 1953, and they had 3 children.

An avid Patriots fan, George enjoyed watching football, fishing, swimming, going to the gym and traveling. After his retirement from the Randolph Post Office, George and Edie spent the winter months in Fort Myers, Florida for more than 20 years. He especially looked forward to time with family and friends.

George was predeceased by his parents; brother, A.C. "Sonny" Zirngiebel and sister, Charlotte Beaton. He is survived by his loving wife, Edie, children Jean (Matt) Gredler, Donna (John) Muller and George Zirngiebel, Jr.; sister Joan F. Smith; 4 grandchildren: Michelle, Scott, George and Amy; and 7 great grandchildren; Samantha, Olivia, Louie, Joseph, Grace, Thomas and Clare.

Always eager to share a fond memory and ready to help a friend, neighbor or family member, George was beloved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, October 6th from 10:00 -11:00 AM in the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St. (RT. 28), Randolph. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home. A Private burial will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

The family would like to thank George's caregivers; Jess, Dilma, Lucy and Landa. We appreciate the services of the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association, especially Cassie, for their compassionate care of George.

Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the NVNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061.
