Jamie was born April 21, 1967, in Homer, Louisiana and entered into rest October 12, 2021, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Jamie came to live with the New family when he was only 8 months old where he grew up and was dearly loved. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Athens; employed with AirTool Equipment Rental, Inc in Geismar. Jamie loved to fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James N. Lawrence, Sr. and Corliss Austin. Parents who raised him, A.B. New, Jr. (Dad) and Emogene Lawrence New (Mama) and grandson, Levi.
He is survived by his children, Charles, Sandi, and Ashley Lawrence of Elm Grove; grandchildren, Austin, Sophie, Kaedyn, Wesson, Arianna, and Rylar; sisters, Linda Rhodes (Billy) of Gibsland, Peggy Stovall (Marion) of Athens, Tracy Ratcliff (Chris) of Homer, and Jennifer Maul (Adam) of Texas; brothers, Billy New (Kathy) of Gibsland and Riley Lawrence of Texas; special friends, Chris Duncan, Dana Menard, Doug Dutton, and a special young man, Caleb Smith, who called him Pops. Also he leaves behind the love of his life and best friend, his dog, Millie.
