Ethan J. Jeremy, 79, 305-12th East, pioneer sheepman, mining executive and businessman, died Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at his residence of a heart ailment.
Since 1890, Mr. Jeremy had engaged in the sheep business in the vicinity of Salt Lake City and was in partnership with his son, Thomas E. Jeremy, prior to his retirement about five years ago. He was president of the Kentucky-Utah Mining Co. and had succeeded his father, Thomas E. Jeremy, as president of the Jeremy Fuel and Grain Co. in 1925.
Son of T. E. and Elizabeth Pettit Jeremy, he was born April 17, 1869, in Salt Lake City. Both his parents were early handcart pioneers. He married Minnie Hodges Nov. 2, 1899, in Salt Lake City. Mr. Jeremy was a member of the Cambrian society.
Besides his widow, Mr. Jeremy is survived by a daughter and a son: Mrs. Grace J. Cassaday, Long Beach, Cal., and Thomas E. Jeremy, Salt Lake City; two sisters: Mrs. Chloe Kempf, Chico, Cal., and Mrs. Walter Wright, Salt Lake City, and three grandchildren.

JEREMY -- Funeral services for Ethan John Jeremy of 305-12th East will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 6, at 2:30 p.m., at the mortuary chapel, 125 N. Main. Friends may call Friday from 4:30 until 8 p.m. and Saturday prior to services. Interment city cemetery, under direction of the Joseph William Taylor Memorial mortuary.
