BYRD – In Augusta County, Va., in the Pleasant Valley congregation, at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, A. D. Garber, Dec. 7, 1895, of old age, sister Hannah Byrd, relict of Wm. Byrd, aged 91 years and 14 days. Her mind was remarkably good and her memory very good up to the last day. She was born, raised and married in Rockingham County, Va. She was next to the last one of the sixteen children of Jacob Showalter. There is yet one living. She was the longest lived of any who have died of the family. She was the mother of three children, one son and two daughters. She was a member of the church of the Brethren for fifty-three years. She called for the elders and was anointed a few days before she died.
