Ruth was born at the Polson family home in Jameston. Ruth's mother passed away when she was an infant, and her father asked Laura and Bill Fielding to raise her. They lived so close that her father could visit her often until he died. She attended Jameston Grade School for 8 years. After graduating from Shelley High School in 1945, she worked for Mountain States Telephone and later for several local businesses. Her hobbies included sewing, painting, gardening, quilting, and crocheting. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many positions throughout her life. On December 12, 1946, she married Ralph Dennis Hogan at the Fielding Home. They were sealed in Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 24, 1965, to each other and all their children. They lived in Idaho Falls until 1960, then moved to Taylor, a few miles from where she was born and raised. She had lived in Shelley since 2000. Survivors included: children Linda Hogan of West Jordan, UT, Patricia Carr of Blackfoot, Michael Hogan of Rigby, Daniel (Sherie) Hogan of Bountiful, UT, and Barbara Hogan of Shelley; 14 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. Services held Saturday, October 16th at Wood Chapel of the Pines.
