Betty Ann Crozier, 78, of Knoxville, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Betty Ann was born in Centerville, Iowa, on February 28, 1931, the daughter of John Albert and Florence Mable (Adams) Boden.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Jr., grandparents, and her parents. She is survived by a host of cousins and friend.

Betty Ann was united in marriage to Robert Crozier on July 24, 1964. Although they later divorced in 1970, they have been very good friends and companions for many years. She is also survived by her present companion Arthur Van Waardhuizen.

Betty Ann was formerly an elementary teacher in the Albia Community Schools, from 1957 to 1963. From 1963 to 1986 she taught in the Knoxville Schools at East Elementary School. She took early retirement in May of 1986. Following her retirement she did some substitute teaching in all the local elementary schools for four years.

She attended Centerville schools and Community College. Betty Ann received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Master of Arts Degree from Truman State University, then called Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, MO.

She was an active officer and member of many professional and civic organizations, among these were: Knoxville Education Association, Life member of both the Iowa State and National Education Associations, Kappa Delta Pi, Alpha Phi Sigma, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota, American Association of University Women, Marion County Historical Association, Marion County Genealogical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic and past department and National President of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861 – 1865. She was also the treasurer of Greenwood Cemetery Aid for many years.

Betty Ann united with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the age of eight. She was an active and faithful member through out all her life. She presently was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Des Moines Restoration Branch.
