He attended Prather Elementary School before graduating from Jeffersonville High School. He attended Speed SCI School at University of Louisville. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force and received his Honorable Discharge on March 29, 1962. During his service time he was a US Air Force SAC Bomber B47 Assistant Crew Chief. He received a unit citation SAC Air Force, a Cold War Recognition Certificate, and his 38th Air Force Division at Hunter AFB Georgia received an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Ralph was the Founder & Owner of Ross Bros. Automatic Transmission Service, Inc. in Jeffersonville. He enjoyed spending his time restoring antique cars, loved hunting, fishing, camping, golfing and also going to Ft. Myers Beach. He was always helping Boy Scouts to safely use tools and played in family softball games, and then umpired the games when he became too old! Ralph dearly loved his family and was dearly loved by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hattie Ross Sr.; son, Clint Matthew Ross; three brothers, Alfred Ross, Charles Ross Jr., and Lanny Ross; sister, Nancy Ross; and grandson, Ron Bujold Jr.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Ross; two sons, Ralph Ross Jr., and Mark Ross (Cheryl); siblings, Ronnie Ross (Debra), Charlotte Very, and Patty Blessett; sister-in-laws, Frances Ross and Janice Ross; six grandchildren, Sarah Vaughn (Chris), Brandon Ross (Bailey), Patrick Ross Tucker, Gina Bujold, Kimberly Bujold, Shari Bujold; four great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Derek, Hope, and Charles; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Friday and after 10 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
