Jimmy Glynn Martin was reunited with his beloved wife in Heaven, late Thursday night, October 7, 2021. He was 87 years old. Born on June 4, 1934 in Greenville, Texas, Jimmy and his brother Allen Lynn were the sons of James Allen and Vivian Martin of Commerce, Texas. James Allen was a farmer so Jimmy and Allen Lynn grew up on a farm and learned what a hard day of work consisted of. Both Jimmy and Allen Lynn joined the United States Air Force and Jimmy served 30 years. Jimmy was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired at the rank of Colonel. As a fighter pilot Jimmy flew multiple fighters to include the F-101, F-104, and F-4. He flew the F-4 in two combat tours in Vietnam. During his Air Force career his assignments included RAF Bentwaters in England, Aviano Air Base in Italy, Zaragosa Air Base in Spain, Da Nang Air Base in South Vietnam, and various bases in the United States. He loved flying and was always telling stories of his flying adventures.

Jimmy was a devoted husband to the late Marie Ann Martin. They resided in Austin, Texas and were married 45 years. Jimmy and Marie loved to travel after retirement. They traveled to visit family, service buddies, and visited Australia and New Zealand. They also traveled on a mission trip with their church. Their Westlake, Texas neighbors remember Jimmy for displaying and saluting his flag every morning and taking it down every evening. He read his bible at the kitchen table every morning. He stayed active traveling, working in the yard, and occasionally building furniture and forts for the grandkids. He devotedly and tenderly cared for his wife as she grew ill. He'll be remembered for his kind and friendly personality, his physical fitness and strength until the end, and his love of God, country, family, flying and hard work. He lived a long, full life and was taken too soon. He will be missed by all who loved him, but we will see him again when we get to heaven.

He is survived by his children Jimmy Martin, Jr. of Warner Robins, Georgia, Donna Summers of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Denise Fanning of Henderson, Nevada, Kelly Daniels of Austin, Texas, and Jackie Lane of Round Rock, Texas, as well as grandchildren Auburn, Jason, Jonathan, Christopher, John, Bryan, Cooper, Greyson, Lauren and Jenny, and twelve great grandchildren.

Jimmy will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on November 1, 2021. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar Blvd, in Austin, Texas. Funeral will begin at 4:00 with a reception after the funeral.
