Mr. Bobby Lee Gilbert
Dec 22, 1943 - Oct 9, 2021

Bobby Lee Gilbert, 77, passed away on October 9, 2021 at his home with his family by his side, only 15 days after his beloved wife passed.
Graveside service will be 12 noon Friday, October 15, 2021 at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Bobby was born December 22, 1943 at his grandmother's house in Dolomite, AL. He was raised in Attalla, AL, and attended Etowah School, where he met the love of his life Becky Findley. They eloped on October 12, 1960, and got married in Bremen GA.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Ann Gilbert; infant daughter, Teresa Kaye Gilbert; parents, Robert Lee Gilbert and Helen Gilbert; step-mother, Laura Mae Gilbert; and precious dog Blu that had been with them for over 19 years.
Bobby joined the Air Force in 1961 and served two years. Bobby and Becky started their family in 1962 and lived in Attalla, AL but moved to Pontiac Michigan shortly after and Bobby worked for General Motors. Their heart was always in Alabama with family, so after two years they moved back to Alabama where they raised their three children in Henagar, AL. Bobby worked for Morgan and Sons furniture company and then became a truck driver; he and Becky drove all over the country for many years. After he retired from truck driving, he worked for Story Trucking Company as their Safety Director. Bobby and Becky decided to move back to Gadsden to be closer to family and went back to driving. He retired from Trent Thrasher Construction, where he worked as an Estimator, to take care of his wife, Becky. Even during Bobby's long battle with cancer, he took great care of Becky during her sickness with dementia. He set an example for his family, that family comes first and love is unconditional.
Bobby is survived by his children, Lisa (Ray) Deloteus, Keith (Sandy) Gilbert, Jenny (Trent) Thrasher; sisters, Martha (Hugh) Douglas, Sue Holly; brother, Wayne Gilbert; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Wayne (Pam) Findley, Rick (Debbie) Findley; grandchildren, Britney Brockus, Spenser (Ryan) Moore, Zachary (Erin) Gilbert, Alex Gilbert, Clay Templeton, Gabriella Antonelli, Chloe Antonelli, and Tyler Thrasher; great-grandchildren, Emma, Ruby, Leia Brockus; Jaylin, Jackson and Liam Gilbert; Vivianne Antonelli Walton and Finn Moore; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for taking great care of Bobby and Becky, the comfort and compassion you showed for them will never be forgotten by the family.
