Julia R. Makings, 86, of Longmont died December 1, 2007 at Applewood Living Center.

She was born September 9, 1921 in Norton County, Kansas to Albert and Elnora (Wheeler) Green.

She married Leslie F. Makings on May 1, 1937 in Atwood, Kansas and they moved to Longmont in 1957 from Atwood, Kansas.

Julia worked in food service at several places in Longmont including Longmont United Hospital and St. John the Baptist Church School.

Julia was a member of Calvary Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church senior choir.

Julia was well known for her flower gardening, especially her roses. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, working with children, and played in the senior's kitchen band.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie on March 3, 1988, two brothers and two sisters.

Julia is survived by her son Les Makings of Longmont, three daughters; Levonna Dykeman and her husband Frank of Evans, CO, Bonnie Fiechtner of Mead, CO, and Janet Nelson and her husband Glen of Greeley, CO, two brothers; Virgil Green of Kansas and Bennie Green and his wife Doris of Oklahoma, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Visitation will be 5 PM to 7 PM Wednesday Dec. 5, 2007 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with family present to greet friends. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM Thursday, December 6 at Calvary Church with Pastor Tom Hovestal officiating.

Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
