Donald Cross, 73, passed away Tuesday morning, October 12, 2021, following a brief illness. He was born on September 26, 1948 in Byrdstown, Tennessee the son of James D. and Gertrude (Bier)Cross.
Donald is a 1967 graduate of Muncie Southside High School and Ball State University, later he married the love of his life, Della (Ridge) Cross on January 14, 1972 in Muncie and she survives. Mr. Cross had proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War Era. He served Blackford, Delaware and Jay Counties as the Veterans liaison for approximately 20 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Cross had also worked for Maxim Corp now known as Honeywell for 20 years prior to serving these three counties. He enjoyed reading his Bible, watching murder mysteries on TV and following The Colts, Broncos, Notre Dame and the Tennessee Volunteers. Donald mostly, treasured spending time with his family and playing Santa Clause for the grandchildren.
Besides his wife of 49 years, Della, he is survived by 4 daughters, Casey Miller (Zach), Muncie, Shelly Clark (Raymond), VanBuren, Melanie Cross, Yorktown and Nikki Lepe, Muncie; 2 sons Tim Cross (Wendy), Ashton, Tennessee and Thomas Cross, Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Flowers, Camden, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, Robert Michael Cross in 2017 his parents; 1 brother, James J. Cross.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021, 10:00 A.M. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Glenn Greiner officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery.
