Michael E. Van Wagoner, loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the University of Utah Medical Center on Friday, December 7th despite the valiant efforts of William Hutson, MD, the Liver Transplant team and the SICU nursing staff at the U of U Medical Center.

Michael was born on July 18, 1946 to Ezra and Fae Van Wagoner in Heber City, Utah. Although his family moved often during his childhood, the city of his birth was integral to his identity.

He graduated from the U of U with a degree in Political Science, a field which remained a passionate interest of his throughout his life. He was a consummate salesman, most recently working for Velocity Press.

He married Christine Hiller on April 2, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He dedicated himself completely to his wife, children, and later, grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ted E., and his sister Patricia Sabey.

He is survived by his sister, Jane (Joe) Pinter; his brother, Tim (Nikki) Van Wagoner; his wife, Christine Van Wagoner; four children, Hillery (Nick) Byrd, Ryan (Anna) Van Wagoner, Jared Van Wagoner, Brett (Ashley) Van Wagoner; and five grandchildren.

A Viewing will be held at the Larkin Sunset Lawn at 2350 E. 1300 S. on Tuesday, December 11 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Imperial Ward, 2738 S. Filmore St., Wednesday, December 12th, 12:00 noon. Interment: Heber City Cemetery.
