Daniel Jacob Dorris, 56, of Naples, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at his home.
Dan was born to Wesley and Rebecca Dorris, Jr, in Nashville, TN on May 25, 1955. The Dorris family moved to Naples in 1966. He graduated from Naples High School with the Class of 1973.
Dan was a Veteran of the US Navy, having served tour of duty at Boca Chica NAS, Key West, FL as an Aviation Boatswain Mate. Dan was a very proud Seminole from Florida State University, where he met Beth, his bride of 30 years and earned a Bachelor Degree in Criminology. Over the years after graduating from FSU, he worked for various software companies as a software sales consultant mostly selling to the mainframe market. Most recently, he was the owner of Paradise Window Cleaning.
He enjoyed most in life being with his family. Known for his quick wit, he was always laughing and making others laugh. He loved boating, golfing, and was an avid racquetball player.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Don Shepard of Tamarac, FL.
Dan was loved by so many. He was honest and loyal to all who had the privilege of knowing him. We all will miss him dearly.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Fuller Funeral Home at 1625 Pine Ridge Road in Naples, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and a memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m.
