Valerie J. Shepherd, 60, of Ottumwa, died at 6:45 p.m. August 6, 2021 at home.
She was born November 5, 1960 in Los Angeles, CA to Roy and Elizabeth Louise Keasling Daugherty. Valerie married Henry "Bud" Shepherd on December 2, 1977.
A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, she was a graduate of Indian Hills Community College with an Associate Degree in Business. Valerie had worked in the office for SIEDA for over 10 years and for several years worked at Professional Computer Solutions.
Valerie was a member of East End Pentecostal Church of God. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening, fishing but mostly loved spending time with family and riding motorcycles with her husband.
Surviving is her husband, Bud; their children, Chris Shepherd of Douds and Mark Shepherd of Ottumwa; 2 grandchildren, Ellie and Avalee; siblings, Michael (Leona) Daugherty of Bloomfield and Terri White (David Cloke) of Eldon; a sister-in-law, Diana (John) Sandegren of Ottumwa; uncle, Jim Keasling of Ottumwa and a very special aunt, Sue McAllister of Bonjour, AL.
Valerie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Brenda Patchin and a brother, Dennis Daughterty.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, August 12th, at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Hendred officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.
The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service.
