Raised in Auburn, NY to Charles and Margaret Herron, he went to Auburn High School, loved and played basketball and baseball. After a brief time in Southern, then Northern California, he ended up settling in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the early 60s on Hendricks Isle. In 1967 started a family and had three children. He bought a house in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. He was a Physical Education teacher and a basketball coach at Saint Anthony's school. He also was a Fort Lauderdale lifeguard. Received BA from FAU. He worked in the Broward County schools as a Physical Education teacher. He also umpired baseball and refereed basketball. Loved to play handball at the Fort Lauderdale YMCA. Loved the Miami Dolphins, Heat, and Marlins.
Jim and Patricia shared 30 years on SE. 15th St. in Fort Lauderdale. Worked at Joe Robbie Stadium on the field maintenance team. Above all he loved his wife and children. Husband, father, coach, and friend, he will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Funeral will be held on Friday, May 3rd at Fred Hunters Funeral Home, 718 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316.
