Vincent Daniel & Alice Mary (Keenan) Cox Sr.

Born in Winthrop, he was the son of the late Vincent and Alice Cox.
He was a 1950 Graduate of Quincy High School and attended Boston University where he was a Varsity Coxswain on the Crew Team and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Drafted into the US Army shortly after graduation, he was stationed in Korea and assigned to the Fire Direction Center in the artillery battery. Upon completion of his term in the Army he worked for Bethlehem Steel in Quincy. In May of 1958 he married his loving and devoted wife Maureen and raised three sons.
He later spent 35 years working as Purchasing Manager at Electroswitch Corporation. In his spare time, he loved coaching his sons and their friends in the Scituate Youth Hockey programs. An active member of the Scituate community, he served on the Board of Directors for Scituate Youth Center. One of his favorite hobbies was competitive sailing in Quincy Bay and Scituate. When he wasn't racing, he and his sons spent hours enjoying sailing in and around Scituate Harbor. He cherished his summertime spent with family on the beaches of Cape Cod, New England winters skiing in New Hampshire and vacations in Bermuda and the Caribbean.
He was the devoted father of Daniel, Wayne and Jeff of Scituate. Father in law of Pegeen and Jane. Cherished Pa of Kevin, Sara and Madelin.
Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St., Scituate. Interment Cudworth Cemetery. Visiting hours at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on Sunday 3-6 PM.
