Raymond Blackmon, 74, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born October 25, 1946 to the late Troy William Blackmon and Ruth Turner Blackmon, he was the husband of Karen Cockrell Blackmon. He was a member of Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church where he served as deacon and loved the Lord and doing the Lord's work. As owner of B & C Contractors since 1987, he was a carpenter for life. While his body was getting weak, he was just helping the Lord build the staircase for him to follow.
He loved his family very much. Everyone he came in contact with, he showed the Lord's love. He was loved by many!!
Surviving are his wife, the love if his life, Karen Cockrell Blackmon, a son, James William Blackmon (Tina), a daughter, Sandra Rae Blackmon Bennett (Butch), two nephews he helped raise, Adrian Cockrell (Sonya) and Jason Cockrell (Angie), a brothers, Michael Blackmon (Rhonda), three sisters, Judy B. Lake, Debra B. Stoudemire (James Parkman) and Rose B. Edwards (John), eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren, an Uncle,Tony Turner (Martha) and an aunt, Lela Crenshaw.
Mr. Blackmon is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Blackmon and a sister, Carolyn B. Matthews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church with Rev, Buddy Cockrell, Rev. Louie Murray, Rev. Paul Flynn and Dudley Rushton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
