Charles Vernon Rouse, Sr., age 80, of Rose Hill passed from this life to his eternal rest on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at his residence.

He was born on January 18, 1941, in Duplin County; the son of the late Leslie Holmes Rouse, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Ward Rouse Dobson. Charles was also preceded in death by his grandson, Dillon James Rouse; brothers, Leslie Holmes Rouse, Jr., Doane Rouse, C.C. Rouse and Ward Rouse and his sisters, Elnora Ivey, Polly Rouse Costin Smith, and Mary Lee Phillips.

Mr. Rouse proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years and he was a member of St. John's Masonic Lodge #13 A.F. & A.M.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and loving wife of fifty-nine years, Helen Adeline Boyce Rouse; his devoted children, Charles "Chuck" Rouse, Jr. and wife, Ruth of Raleigh, Richard "Rick" Rouse and wife, Carla of Kenansville, Donald "Donnie" Rouse and wife, Eileen of Melbourne, Florida and Elizabeth Bell and husband, Dwight of Garland; grandchildren, Leslie Rouse, Logan Bell, Aiden Rouse, Ivey Rouse, Landon Bell and Casey Rouse; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Vernon.

Vernon, as he was affectionately known, was a great husband and wonderful father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker who made sure his family was provided for. Vernon enjoyed spending time with his family and playing golf. He fell in love with Helen many, many years ago and as the years went by, he loved her even more. With a great personality, Vernon acquired many friends throughout his life. He will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Vernon.

Inurnment service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Devotional Garden Mausoleum, Warsaw, NC with the Reverend Jimmy Johnson officiating.
