Obituary for Larry Peterson
Larry Neils Peterson, age 87, passed away on October 5, 2021 in Lindon, Utah. He was born on September 7, 1934 in Vineyard, Utah to Stanley T. and Minnie Peterson.

He married Joan Oakley on February 20, 1956 in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple.

Shortly after marriage, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country proudly. After serving in the military, he accepted a job with IBM in San Jose, California. He quickly advanced into positions of trust and responsibility and managed many different departments including the Education departments for IBM and Siemens. He absolutely loved this role! Being in his element, he developed others to excel and succeed. Upon retirement, he returned to Utah County to be near his family and friends.

Larry, a people person, loved everyone he met. At work, church, or in the neighborhood, he brought out one's best attributes. Dad was very kind and always a gentleman right up to the very end. He always thanked everyone for anything he received, looking into your eyes, recognizing your gift. Ever an optimist, his good nature was infectious.

Dad loved sports. He loved golf and basketball. He especially enjoyed golfing with his sons, and most recently just five weeks ago with his daughter Kelly! He rarely missed a BYU game on television and always cheered enthusiastically in Cougar blue.

Larry was very involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Canada with his wife, Joan, and served in many capacities throughout the years. Members and non-members both referred to him as "Bishop" appreciating his leadership and wisdom as he helped them through difficult situations. He especially enjoyed serving in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou, children: Ken (Stacy), Mark (Mindy), Steve (Carol), and Kelly (Rebekah). He has 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. His family is the love of his life.

He is preceded in death by his son, Blake, and wife, Joan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 9th, at 12:00 (noon) in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building located at 1051 East 200 South, Lindon, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior to services from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
