William Daniel Boyd, 68, of Agency, died at 4:37 p.m. September 10, 2021 at MercyOne Newton Medical Center.
He was born June 6, 1953 in Ottumwa to Bill E. and Roberta Arter Boyd. He married Kathleen Jo Stewart March 17, 1973.
A graduate of Cardinal High School, Dan worked as a Shipping Supervisor for Rockwell International in Fairfield for 20 years. He also built several homes alongside his dad. Moving to Florida in 1994, he worked for a builder installing custom trim for 10 years and for 8 years worked for Progressive Communications & Printing Co. as Shutterfly Coordinator. He and his wife, Kathy moved back to Iowa in 2013. Since then, he has worked for First Resources where he maintained vehicles and facilities over several counties.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He previously served on the Agency City Council and had been a member of Ottumwa Car Club. Dan collected and sold Diecast Model Cars as well as published three catalogs on Diecast Model Cars. He enjoyed playing the guitar and collected several guitars. He also enjoyed taking care of his pet parrot, Norman. He recently purchased the old Agency Fire Department where he pursued his passion of working on classic cars and had the opportunity to reconnect with many friends.
Surviving is his wife, Kathy; their daughters, Heather (David) Wilson of Sigourney and Stacey (Dave) Kreigh of Riverview, FL; two grandchildren, Blake Ware and Allie Kreigh; his parents, Bill and Roberta Boyd of Lake Mary, FL; three sisters, Connie (LaVaun) Jarr of Selma, Terri (Kyle) Henson of Bradenton, FL and Linda Boyd of Eustis, FL; a sister-in-law, Diane (Bobby) Carnahan of Ottumwa; along with several nephews and a niece, Sara Lemonds.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert and Francis Boyd, John Russell and Dorothy Arter.
Visitation will be open after 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 15th at Reece Funeral Home with his family present to greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, September 16th at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. For those unable to attend, you may watch the service live on the Ottumwa Calvary Baptist Church Facebook Page. Burial will be in Agency Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Resources or Calvary Baptist Church.
