Michael A. Nichols, 76, of Rockford died October 9, 2021. Born October 13, 1944 in Rockford; son of Guy and Josephine (Hallman) Nichols. United in marriage to Cynthia "Cindy" Anderson on January 5, 1963 in Rockford. Mike began his career with the Ironworkers Local 498 in the 1960's, retiring in November 2009. Mike was a big-hearted man, who never asked anyone for anything; yet gave freely of his time and talent. He was a skilled builder and "fix it" man. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and yard. Survived by wife, Cindy; daughter, Monica (Carmen) Nichols-Alonzo; grandchildren, Krystal (Jordan) Hinrichs, Jessica Nichols, Amanda Nichols; great-grandchildren, Skyla Sweeney, Savannah Hinrichs; brother, David (Dori) Nichols; brother-in-laws, Jerry Brown, Keith (Marge) Anderson; sister-in-law, Julie Cook; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents; sons, Glenn Nichols, Ronald Nichols; grandson, Daniel King; sisters, Sharon Wood and Mary Lynn Brown.
