Ms. Jeannie Poe Carter, age 72, of Hazlehurst, died Saturday, October 09, 2021 at her residence.
Ms. Carter was born April 03, 1949 in Appling County. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Poe, Maddie Davis Poe, husband, James A. Carter, son, Jeffery Carter, grandson, Jared Carter, sisters, Mary Poe Thatcher and Betty Collins. She was employed with Amoco Fabrics for 44 years and was a member of the Hazlehurst Church of God. She was a social butterfly, enjoyed life, was a great cook, LOVED reading, playing board games and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Joseph (Joey) Carter and Teresa Manning Special Friend and caregiver of Hazlehurst; brothers, Joel Poe (Shirley) of Hazlehurst and Bloyce (Junior) McDaniel (Judy) of Hazlehurst; sisters, Joe Ann Wilcox of Hazlehurst and Connie McDaniel of Baxley; five grandchildren, Jocelynn Carter, Baleigh Carter, Jacob Carter, Jessica Carter Lee and Corey Carter; nine great-grandchildren, Gavin Johnson, Grayson Johnson, Anilynn Miller, Gionni Carter, Adyson Lee, Madelyn Lee, Dallas Lee, Henley Carter, a special great-granddaughter, Clara Anna Grace Dukes (BooBoo); several nieces and nephews also survived.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 3:00pm in the Oak View Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Nunes and Rev. Alvin Merritt officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hazlehurst Church of God Adult Sunday School Class and her Propex Co-Workers.
