Obituary of Ann Frere West
Ann Frere West, 63, passed away on October 6, 2021, at Arbor Terrace, a memory care home in Athens, Georgia.
She was born in Laramie, Wyoming. She was the oldest of four children. Ann graduated from the University of Oklahoma and was one of the biggest Sooner fans you would know! She dedicated her life to teaching, spending the majority of her career at Whitehead Road Elementary School. She taught for 37 years and retired in 2017.

Ann married Randy West, her high school sweetheart on May 25, 1979, and lived in Norman, Oklahoma until 1986, when they moved and established their home for 35 years in Athens, Georgia. Ann was "super mom" supporting all her kids in baseball, softball, cheerleading and dance. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where all the West kids were confirmed. She was a very creative and influential teacher and was a mentor for many of the student teachers in Athens.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Mo and Margaret Frere, and sister Donna Frere.

She is survived by her husband, Randy of 42 years, son, Eric (39), daughters Kimberly (33) and Kelli (31) and son, Bradley (29). She is also survived by her brothers Jim Frere (Leigh Frere) and Bill Frere (Kelly Hamlin-Frere).

A visitation to honor Ann will be held on Thursday October 14th at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens, Georgia from 6-8pm EST to be followed by a funeral on Friday October 15th at 1pm EST at the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home.
