He retired from the United States Marine Corps after 20 years of honorable and faithful service. After retiring, he went on to receive his Associate of Arts from Coastal Carolina Community College. He later attended University of North Carolina Wilmington for business.
He married Yeavonne Michelle on November 14, 1999, and the couple had three children together. The family also has three fur babies: Bear, Kima, and Zane.
Lee is survived by his wife, Yeavonne; their children, Tyrell Lee Cox, Shawn Joseph Cox, and Brandon David Cox; many brothers and sisters, William Cox, Yvonne Brown, Kathy Cox, Tianda (Manchil) Farley, Alison Flaherty, Stephanie (Kenny) Battaglia-Rotunno, Joseph Fragoso, Bob (Kirsten) Gohsler, Raul (Miranda) Rivas, and Sunday Lablance; mother-in-law, Robbin Williams; and multiple Marine brothers and sisters at home and abroad.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lee, and Viola and his dog Zane.
He will be deeply missed for his unique sense of humor, immense care for others, and true devotion to those he considered family.
A visitation will be held at 1:00PM with the funeral service commencing immediately after at 2:00PM on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, 122 N Dyson St, Holly Ridge, NC 28445.
On Friday October 15, 2021 a funeral procession will coordinate at 9:00 am at the Jones Funeral Home, 303 Chaney Ave, Jacksonville, NC 28540. A graveside service with Military Honors will commence promptly at 10:00AM Friday October 15, 2021 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Montford Landing Rd, Jacksonville, NC 28540.
