Peacefully passed away on September 6, 2021 at Washington VA Medical Center surrounded by his family. He leaves to mourn his devoted wfe, Laura; daughter, Jheryl Parson; sons James W. Preston, II (Monica) and Robert Travis Preston; sisters, Catherine Gafford and Neldra Colwell (Larry); brother P. James Preston, Jr.; sister-in-law, Roberta Abernathy Reid; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church, 4850 Blagden Ave., NW, Washington, DC. Interment 1 p.m., Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. In lieu of flowers, small plants and baskets or donations to a charity of your choice may be made in his honor.
