Katherine Agnes McDaniel, 92, of Loveland passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, July 1, 2021 of congestive heart failure.

She was born December 23, 1928 to Eugene and Marthena Thomas in Whitney, Nebraska. She was the second of three children, with an older sister and a younger brother. Katherine grew up in and around Whitney and graduated from Chadron Prep School. She moved to Torrington, Wyoming for work and there she met her husband-to-be, Ward E. McDaniel. They were married in Torrington on December 28, 1950 and enjoyed 56 years together.

Their first home was in Maddock, North Dakota. Katherine was always by Ward's side as they lived in Missouri, Iowa and Colorado for his teaching and sales career. While in Des Moines, Katherine volunteered at the Valley View Nursing Home and during their 20 years in Pella she volunteered at the Christian Opportunity Center for the Developmentally Disabled. Katherine maintained close contact with friends from all the places they lived.

Katherine and Ward retired in 1992 and moved to Loveland. They were both active and dedicated members of their church, Mountain View Presbyterian. In "retirement", Katherine became a 15-year employee of the Van Heusen Factory Outlet. She also volunteered at Good Samaritan Loveland Village before moving there in the Fall of 2006.

The joy in Katherine's life was rooted in her family. She was the mother of three; son Tom (Debbie) McDaniel of Temecula, California, daughter Cindy Frederick of Cheyenne, and son Jay (Nancy) McDaniel of Oakland, California. Katherine had 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Katherine's children would like to thank Harry and Jody Love for all the help and support they gave her.

She was happiest when surrounded by her family, but also had many other close friends near and far. Those who knew her best will remember her for her warm and welcoming home where the door was always open. She was a fantastic cook and gardener and loved to entertain friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister and brother, and a son-in-law, Rick Frederick.

A celebration of her life will be held at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, Tuesday, July 13, at 2 PM.
