5-month old Debra Jean was the daughter of Jerry and Betty Jean Berry Pope. She died in the hospital after an illness of three days.
In addition to her parents, the baby was survived by paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Tate Pope; maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Berry; and her paternal great grandmother, Mrs. Mary Johnson.
Her funeral was held at Valdese Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Berry officiating.
