Lyman E. Burton, 71, Baldwin, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort with the Rev. Susan Daniels officiating.

Mr. Burton died Wednesday, July 17, 1991, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 6, 1920, in Vermillion, the son of Elmer M. and Molissia Bell Newsome Burton. He grew up and attended schools in the Bigelow and Frankfort areas.

Mr. Burton served in World War II in the North African and European theaters in the Army. After the war, he worked construction and played minor league baseball. He lived in Bigelow, Frankfort, Osawatomie and Lawrence before moving to the Baldwin area in 1960.

A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars at Blue Rapids, Mr. Burton operated a service station for a few years.

He married Wauneta Lorraine Welch on Jan. 19, 1946, at Seneca. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Jim, Baldwin, and Gary, Converse, Tex.; two daughters, Judy Scott, San Antonio, Tex., and Kimberly Crabtree, Baldwin; two sisters, Bessie Stevens, Blue Rapids, and Maude Christie, Lawrence; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
