Pulitzer Prize Winning-Author. Along with Kai Bird, he was recipient of the Pulitzer Prize in the category of Biography for "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of Robert J. Oppenheimer" (2005). Born Martin Jay Sherwin, his father worked for a children's garment company, Martin found his interest in Nuclear Science while studying History at Dartmouth College. Following service with the United States Navy, he earned his Ph.D from the University of California Los Angeles and went on to become a professor at Tufts, Princeton and George Mason Universities. In 1975, he penned his first book "A World Destroyed." He died from lung cancer.
