American Diplomat. She served as the 19th. United States Ambassador to Togo from August 22, 2008 until July 29, 2011. Before serving in a government position she attended Barnard College and East Stroudsburg University where she received a bachelor degree in education. She also studied French at Georgetown University, the University of Dijon and New York University. She began her career in 1980 in the United States International Communications Agency in Washington D.C., before becoming an ambassador she served in many offices within the government such as the Country Affairs Officer, she was a Policy Application and Coordination Officer. On her first tour of Paris she served as Assistant Information Officer and Deputy Press Attaché and many more offices during her career of public service. She was married to Richard S.D. Hawkins and they had two children. She called home Waterville Valley, New Hampshire.
