His youth was spent in Burdett, Kansas. In June of 1959, the family moved to Gentry, Arkansas. Clifford then graduated from high school in Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1960. On June 22, 1962, Clifford Wayne Smith and Deanna Sue Weir were united in marriage. To this union were born two children, Lesley and Scott. They enjoyed 59 years together before her passing August 22, 2021.
The family moved to Bristow in 1978 to begin a new venture and the beginning of KREK radio station. Together they successfully operated the station over 36 years. Clifford had many other interests such as traveling, he and Deanna traveled to many countries but frequently visited Brazil. He had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying around the country with his friends. He also enjoyed gathering with friends on his Goldwing motorcycle and traveling around the country as well. He had many hobbies, but his true joy came when he was able to spend time with his grandchildren. He had truly special relationships with each one of them. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Lesley McCray and husband Gary; son, Scott Smith; three brothers, Glenn Smith and wife Rhonda, Wade Smith and wife Roberta, Henry Smith and wife Renee; four grandchildren Shila Calvert and husband Derrick, Brandon Smith, Leanna McCray, and Parker McCray; two great grandchildren, Kaidince and Audrey Calvert. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bristow Noon Lions Club, PO Box 896, Bristow, OK 74010 or Bristow Social Services 1705 S. Chestnut Street, Bristow, OK 74010.
