Barbara "Barb" Ann Kent, 82

Barbara "Barb" Ann Kent, 82 of Lititz, passed away at her residence with family by her side on October 4, 2021. Born in Ashland, PA she was the daughter of the late William and Alwyn (Noll) Hughes. She was also the beloved wife to Grant Kent, Jr. for over 62 years, and had shared her life with him for over 70 years.

Barb graduated from Ashland High School in 1956 and soon began her studies at Pottsville School of Nursing, graduating in 1959 first in her class. She worked at Lancaster General Hospital for over 38 years full-time, earning Outstanding Nurse of the Year Award, and retiring as an Administrator of Healthcare. Throughout her career she held many positions at LGH including the Director of the Transitional Care Unit and worked with Dr. Martin at his private physician's office. After retiring she continued working part-time at the hospital and Joyce Gibble Gifts and volunteered her time at Pleasant View Communities and Meals-on-Wheels. Barb enjoyed every holiday to the fullest by decorating, making food and entertaining friends and family.

Barb had a love of travel and adventure. She and her husband Grant often took trips to their beach house in Holden Beach, NC, visited all 50 states, hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, visited all 10 Canadian provinces, explored all the continents, and traveled to 104 countries.

In addition to her husband Grant Jr., Barb is survived by her children Kelly Goshen (Lewis) of Chambersburg and Grant Kent (Beverly) of Lititz, 3 grandchildren: Lewis Goshen III, Grant Kent, and Karoline Kent (Tyler), and 1 great-grandchild Lewis Goshen IV. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Alwyn Wassel.

A time for friends and family to gather will take place from 2-3:30 PM on Saturday, October 23 at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
