Ocala - Johnnie "John" Ray McLeod- A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother & friend to many passed away July 17, 2021 in Ocala Florida. John was born August 18, 1945 in Raleigh NC. He graduated from SHS in Durham NC in 1962. John served in the US Army in the Vietnam war as a paratrooper & a drill sergeant. He began his career in the car sales industry in the 70's & worked for Uzzle Cadillac Olds & then pursued a career in the insurance business with Allstate Insurance Company in 1978 where he became a sales manager before retiring in 1997. After retiring he worked for Ocala Nissan as a sales manager from 2004-2011. John was an avid fisherman for many years until his passion for golf took over. He was member of Ocala golf club but only played on days that end in "Y". John married Linda Noble McLeod Feb 14, 1982. He is survived by Linda after being married almost 40 years. Daughters, Tarayn McLeod, Denise Clement (Trey). Granddaughters Ella Juarbe, Nina & Maci Morris, sister Esther Goodwin, brother in law Donald Poole. John also had the pleasure of raising 2 bonus daughters from a very early age, Deana Seymore & Angela Orlando. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Washington McLeod & Florence McLeod, siblings, Neil McLeod, Carol McLeod, Larry McLeod, Cecil McLeod, Carol Poole, and Virginia Rogan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Ocala Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in John's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation which he supported monthly, or the local VA.
