Oakdale, California - Catherine "Katie" Hollander Nelson passed away December 27, 2020 at the age of 91.
Katie lived in Oakdale all of her life. She graduated from Oakdale High School and still kept in contact with many of her high school friends.
Katie loved hosting family dinners with traditional Italian Cuisine. One of her favorite for the family was Polenta. She was an excellent baker and Gourmet Cook.
She loved playing bridge and hosted many bridge tournaments.
Katie was an avid golfer for many years. She was an original member of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, as well as Past President of the Oakdale Ladies Golf Association.
She was score keeper at the AT&T Pebble Beach Golf Tournament for several years, and marshaled for the Ladies Northern California Golf Association tournaments. She played in many ladies golf tournaments throughout the State of California.
Katie loved to travel and traveled throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. A memorable time for her was staying with Amish family in the Amish Country as well as Port Townsend ,Washington.
She was a member of the St. Mathias Episcopal Church, Oakdale.
Katie was very proud of her Italian heritage and that her mother came through Ellis Island as an Italian immigrant to the United States.
She loved shopping, especially on El Paseo Drive, Palm Desert, San Francisco, and Yountville, Ca.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Savina Beltrami Gobbi, her husband Dr. Eugene Hollander, Dr. Russell Nelson and great-granddaughter Amelia Hollander.
She leaves behind her children, Mike Hollander (Donna) Tom Hollander (Shaarn) Gale Willms (Charles Campbell) and 5 grandchildren, Nathan Hollander (Tina) Julie Hollander, Joe Hollander (Elizabeth), Jennifer Hoff (Donovan) Jared Willms (Emily) and 8 great grandchildren.
