FORTVILLE - Michael G. "Swampy" Fuchs, age 62, of Fortville, passed away on Tuesday, June 25th, 2019, at home after a brief illness. He was born April 13, 1957 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Wallace Sherman and Sadie Mae (Brandle) Fuchs. Michael was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, class of 1975. He married Jody (Dowden) on May 20, 1978 in Fortville.
Michael had been a meat cutter after doing his apprenticeship at Grady's IGA in Fortville. He was an avid sports fan for the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts. He loved to be with his dogs and especially loved his granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, Jody Fuchs, and two children, Samantha (Luke) Wiseman in Goodyear, Arizona and Adam Michael Fuchs, Fortville and two granddaughters, Addison and Tori Wiseman. He is also survived by his parents, his two sisters, Vickie (Bill) Thompson and Denise (Tom) Kirby and by his two faithful canine companions, Sunshine and Joe.
A gathering will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 124 E. Staat Street, Fortville, IN 46040. A memorial service will take place immediately following the gathering at 3:00 p.m. Brad Storm will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Hancock County Humane Society, 214 E. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140, or envelopes will be available at the mortuary. Friends may share a memory or condolence at www.erleweinmortuary.com.
