Carole Elizabeth Howell, 85, of Worthington, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 3, 2021 at Riverside Hospital.

Carole was born Carole Elizabeth Johnson on May 17, 1936 to parents Clarence and Pearl Johnson in Rockford, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack Johnson. Carole is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 60 years, 2 daughters, son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, 5 grandchildren, and 2 step-grandchildren.

Carole graduated from Muldoon High School in Rockford, IL in 1954. She graduated from Siena Heights University in Adrian, MI in 1958 with a bachelor's degree in social work. Carole led a remarkable life centered on devotion to her family and advocating for the elderly and senior outreach.

She was gregarious and outgoing and had many treasured, lifelong friendships from her time in Illinois and Ohio. Carole worked tirelessly to help those in need from her early days as a foster care advocate at Catholic Home Bureau in Chicago and later, facilitating senior support at AOPHA, Community Resource Center and Catholic Social Services in Columbus. Carole loved reading, playing bridge and being with her family.

Her 60-year marriage to her husband was filled with travel and laughter and a lifetime of caring. In honor of Carole, donations may be made in her name to The Arthritis Foundation or Catholic Social Services.
