Ruth Jeanette Hanson, age 88 of Belleville, formerly of Blanchardville, died on Friday, October 8, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family. Ruth was born on August 7, 1933 at home to Daniel and Thea Margretha (Runden) Johnson. She grew up in the Blanchardville area on the family farm. She graduated from the Blanchardville High School in 1952. She was married on April 19, 1953 to Ralph Lloyd Hanson in the Hollandale Lutheran Church. They lived in Blanchardville for many years, and then moved to rural Blanchardville enjoying farm life until they built a new home in Belleville in the early 1980's. While living in Belleville Ralph and Ruth would go to Madison where Ralph would drop Ruth off at house cleaning jobs, and then he would go to the VA Hospital to volunteer almost every day. She cleaned for some people for over 40 years. Ruth was the family photographer and cook. She loved both. She was constantly taking pictures of the family, always TWO, and won a few Homemaker photography awards, and was constantly cooking and baking for her family including Lefse making, being very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She won several awards for her pies. Ruth would teach anyone to bake and make lefse, and loved giving out recipes. She had no baking secrets, she was always willing to share her talents. She also loved working on genealogy. She was an early riser who liked to keep busy. She was a member of Country Aires HCE Club, a homemakers group. She was still an active member of the Blanchardville American Legion Auxiliary #142 and was a former officer and president.

Ruth is survived by 5 children, Randy Hanson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Debra Glotfelty of Belleville, Lori (Duane) Yaun of Brooklyn, Pamela (Bryon Ragels) Hanson of Germantown, and Todd Hanson of Monroe; one brother, Dwayne (Darlene) Johnson of Beckemeyer, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Johnson of Portage, and Marie Anderson of Palm Coast Florida; and a brother-in-law, Lowell Hanson of Beloit; ten grandchildren, Chad (Nicole) Yaun, Stacey Yaun, Jeremy (Paige Younggren) Yaun, Melissa Finney, Jessica Visser, Brooke (Taylor Yuhas) Hanson, Brittany Hanson, Adrienne Cooke, Brandon Cooke, and Shannon (Pedro) Antonio; and 17 great-grandchildren, Brody, DeMarcus, Demyla, Clover, Peyton, Mason, Kensington, Ashlyon, Nolan, Addison, Abrianna, Di'erra, Julia, Liam, Isabella, Sawyer, and Hayden.
