David E. Halstead, age 73, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away Saturday Jan. 23, 2016, at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Cairo, Georgia, and lived in St. Augustine since he was a baby. In 2004, he retired from St. Johns County government as assistant county administrator and had also worked many years with Barnett Bank and St. Augustine General Hospital. David was a very active member of the community. The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Craig Funeral Home with the memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmond Bentley Halstead and Anne Halstead, and his son, David E. Halstead, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynda Gail; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Halstead Grotz and Tom Grotz; sister, Bonnie Halstead Creedon; brother, Laddie Smith Halstead; three grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ramelle Petroglou and her husband, James.
