Alfred T. Petersen was born in Newell, Iowa on October 11, 1890 to Jens and Karen Petersen and passed away at Long Beach, Calif., Monday, November 18, 1957 at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 7 days. After a week's illness of Asiatic flu, complications resulted in pneumonia causing his death.
He was baptized and confirmed at the Nain Lutheran church in Newell.
At the age of twenty-four, he moved from here to Arlington, Neb., and later to St. Louis, Mo., where he lived until 1950. In that year, he moved to Long Beach, where he resided until his death.
In 1911, he was united in marriage to Olga Hansen of Newell who passed away in 1921. He married Elizabeth Christ Richter in 1922, and to the union was born a daughter, Fern, (Mrs. Lloyd Davis). Mrs. Petersen also had a son Wallace whom she reared. Mrs. Petersen died in September, 1948. On June 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to Mable Farris of St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Petersen was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mrs. Emiel Bodholdt and H. Chris Petersen, a brother, both of Newell.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mabel of Long Beach, Calif., his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd F. Davis of Newell, a step-son Wallace F. Richter of East St. Louis, Ill., two sisters, Mrs. Anna Johnson and Mrs. Oscar Willadsen, both of Newell, two grandsons, Rustin and Brent Davis, other relatives and a host of friends.
