Betty Lorie Wheeler went to meet her heavenly Father on Oct. 2, 2021 in Glendale, AZ. She was born July 24, 1931, in Pea Ridge, Ark., to Orville and Alma Crabtree.

Betty graduated from Pea Ridge [Ark.] High School in 1949, and married Leland J. Dean soon after graduation. She was a mother and homemaker until moving to Kansas City in 1963 where Leland attended Cleveland Chiropractic College, and Betty began working in the credit department of Sears and Roebuck Co. After a divorce in 1966 she transferred to the Sears store in Rogers, Ark., retiring in 1988.

Betty married Jack Wheeler in 1973, and after her retirement they enjoyed traveling the country, camping, fishing, and hiking. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and learning to paint. Betty was an active member for 50+ years of First United Methodist Church in Rogers, Ark., where she was devoted to the sewing circle, making and delivering layettes to the Rogers [Ark.] Memorial Hospital for over 18 years.

Betty cherished her family, raising her step-children, hosting family dinners, and babysitting the little ones. Although Alzheimer's stole her sharp mind it did not take her sweet spirit.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, and brother Lynn Crabtree. She leaves her children Phyllis Dean White of Sun City West, AZ., Liz Heimbach of Rogers, Ark., Mike Wheeler of Bella Vista, Ark., and Linda Tarver of Austin, TX., and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 pm Sun., Oct. 10, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church of Rogers, Ark. Interment will follow at the Pea Ridge [Ark.] Cemetery. Any memorials may be made to the church in Betty's name.

Arrangements are by Benton County Funeral Home, 306 No. 4th St., Rogers, Ark. Online condolences: www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com.
