Jean Herrington, age 93, and lifelong resident of the Ephesus community near Forest, died Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Mississippi Care Center in Morton surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30pm Saturday, October 9, 2021 from the Ephesus Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Ephesus Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will also be held at the church beginning at 2:00pm. Rev. Tal Vardaman will officiate the services under the direction of OTT & LEE Funeral Home in Forest.

She was born on July 24, 1928, in Scott County to her parents, Benjamin Calvin Barnes and Lilla Alford Barnes. She went on to marry her husband, Leon Herrington. Together, they started a family and made their home in the Ephesus community. She was a lady of great Christian faith, a wonderful mom, and grandmother. She retired from the Scott County Schools as a cafeteria worker. She loved her family, and always enjoyed holidays and family get-to gathers. She was a faithful member of Ephesus Baptist Church until she was no longer able to attend. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leon Herrington, and 2 brothers, James Cloteal Barnes, Troy Barnes, a sister, Audie Hendry.

Survivors include her daughters; Sandra Burkes (Jackie), and Phyllis Sharp (Mike) all of Forest. Mrs. Herrington leaves behind a legacy of 5 grandchildren; Cherie Hardin (Bobby), Kristy Easterling (Stites, Jr.) Bert Sharp (Brandy), Clint Burkes (Bailey), and Lacy Fanguy (D.J); 12 great-grandchildren, Sharley Chaney, Chance Easterling, Katie Easterling, Landon Hardin, Lanie Burkes, Bentley Long, Briggs Burkes, Kaleigh Wooten, Madison Wooten, Shelby Fanguy, Dudley Fanguy, and Baylor Sharp.

Pallbearers are Bobby Hardin, Stites Easterling, Jr. Bert Sharp, Clint Burkes, Landon Hardin, and D. J. Fanguy.

The family wishes to express their gratitude for the compassionate care given to their loved one by the staff of the Mississippi Care Center in Morton.
