Patrick Dixon, 62, formerly of Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away September 29, 2021 in Irving, Texas. He was born July 2, 1959 in Amarillo, Texas, the youngest son of the late, Jane McEver Dixon and Gerald E. Dixon Sr.
A graduate of Texas A & M University, he served in the United States Air Force and was a highly decorated Senior Meteorologist/Ship Routing Officer at Naval Maritime Forecast Center in Norfolk, Virginia for 31 years, before retiring in August 2021. He recently moved back to his hometown of Irving to care for his mother.
He touched many people during his life through his work and activities, that included being an extraordinary dad, exemplary officer, great friend, fun soccer coach, wonderful little brother and role model to many. As one friend said, he was "a true gem of a friend".
Survivors include his children, elder brother, Thomas, two sisters, Cynthia and Jane, seven grand children and other extended family and friends.
The funeral will be in the funeral home chapel. For his Texas family, his remains will be inurned with his eldest brother, father and mother on October 9, 2021 at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. For his Virginia family, he will also be buried as an Air Force Veteran at the Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
