Christopher Laurence Taylor was born on December 29, 1977, to Eldon "Dean" Taylor and Ruth Ann (Stukey) Herring. As the youngest of four children, he withstood his share of teasing and fighting, but, as his siblings would tell you, he gave as good as he got (they would also probably tell you that, as the baby, he had it the easiest). Chris fell asleep for the last time on September 24, 2021, comforted by the love of his family. He realized from an early age that he did not like being the center of attention, so it can be safely assumed that he would have hated this whole memorial business. He would tell everyone to dry those tears up before he would give them something to cry about.
When he wasn't "borrowing" Terry's clothes, installing stereos, stealing boats and painting them pink, working on cars or computers with Herbie, getting into shenanigans with Fender or Shane, or buying a new Playstation controller because he threw the last one a little too hard after losing in Madden, Chris spent his time enjoying the little things: playing Ultima Online, World of Warcraft, or Call of Duty with friends; daydreaming about Florida; hating every football team that wasn't the Cowboys; shooting pool; rolling his eyes at something Erica said (or anyone, for that matter – Chris was an excellent eye-roller); and watching his daughters grow up. He loved his girls more than anything (except maybe the Cowboys).
He worked at Tri-V Tool and Manufacturing for many years, and while it cannot be said that he loved work, he formed deep and lasting friendships with his coworkers that made even the toughest days tolerable. And chocolate – that helped too.
He disliked cold weather, British comedies, math, dishonesty, X-Box, Erica's driving, losing in video games, and talking on the phone. His biggest fear (other than bees) was that someone would find out that he was really a big softie. Anyone who knew Chris, however, already knew that his tough guy act was just that – an act. He cared very deeply about so many people. If he ever flipped you off, he probably liked you. To Chris, giving someone the finger was just his tough guy way to say he cared.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Eldon "Dean" Taylor; his stepmother Mary "Joan" (Hastie) Taylor; his stepfather James "Jim" Herring; his feline pal Baby Girl (who he insisted he did not like, but he secretly did).
He is survived by his wife, Erica (Swanger) Taylor; his daughters Alexsis ("Lexy") and Cadence ("Cady") Taylor; his mother Ruth Anne Herring; his brothers Herbie and Terry; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; his furry pals Kal-el and Baby Boy; his granddogs Hades and Oakley; and countless other family and friends who will miss him every day.

A memorial service will be held Monday October 11, 2021, at 3:00pm at Calvary Christian Church at 10100 Cedar Island Road in Bellevue, Nebraska.
