Beard, William Randall "Randy" Twin Cities Playwright and Arts Critic, died on April 17 due to complications from COVID-19. Randy was the writer of Beyond the Rainbow at the Minnesota History Theater, Mary Stuart (with Matthew Sciple) and the Odyssey at Park Square, and was literary manager of the Park Square Theater from 2000-2003. Beard regularly contributed theater and classical music reviews to the Minneapolis StarTribune and Mpls/St Paul Magazine. He was a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, and was active in multiple other circles of the arts in the Twin Cities. A Funeral Eucharist will be held for Beard on Saturday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul-Reformation Lutheran Church (100 Oxford Street North, Saint Paul; stpaulref.org). A reception with a light lunch will follow Attendees are required to wear a mask throughout the liturgy, which will also be livestreamed at stpaulref.online.church. Memorials in support of music and the arts should be directed to St. Paul-Reformation Church.
