Myrtle Bryant Spence, 91, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, died Friday, January 29, 2021, at her residence.

Mrs. Spence was born in Northampton County, NC the daughter of the late Matthew Harvey Bryant and Lucy Beale Bryant. She was the widow of George R. Spence and a homemaker. Preceding her in death was her son, Gene Allen Spence, and the following brothers and sisters: Grace Bryant Peede, Dorothy Bryant Brutosky, Vashti Bryant Peede, Cular Bryant, Jennie Bryant Craddock, Hazel Bryant Bryant, Janice Bryant McMahan, Helen Bryant Bennett, Matthew Harvey Bryant, Jr., Marjorie Bryant, John Covington Bryant "Junior", Morris Hinton Bryant, Matthew Morris Bryant, Polly Bryant Hopkins and Stancil Roland Bryant.

Surviving are: a Daughter, Janet Spence Powell and her husband Ray, of Roanoke Rapids, NC; a son Steve "Bitty" R. Spence of Gaston, NC; a sister Camilla Dixon and her husband James of Halifax, NC; four grandchildren Paula Copeland, Tony Powell (Joy), Kevin Powell (Stacy), and Gary Powell (Alison); seven great-grandchildren Cameron Powell (Marissa), Christopher Powell, Mollie Powell, George Powell, Lilly Powell, Chase Copeland and Tyler Copeland; a great-great-grandchild, Landen Copeland; special friends Madie Higgins and Irene Morgan ; loving caregivers Ann Rosser, Taneka Rainey and especially Kathy Scott, whom she loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 50, Memphis TN 38101-9929 or Shriners Hospital for Children Processing Center, P. O. Box 1510, Ransom, WV 25438-9902

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel of Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
