Obituary
David George Rickett, Sr., 78, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on October 05, 2021 at St. Joseph's Carpenter House in Gulfport, MS. David was born the oldest of three children, to George and Winnie (Bagley) Rickett, on January 18, 1943 in Atlanta, GA. David grew up in Atlanta where he enjoyed playing football for his High School, North Fulton. He would graduate and further his education at The University of Georgia, where he earned his Bachelors in Business Administration. David followed in his fathers footsteps, working for General Motors as a manger until retirement. In 1969, David married Elizabeth Ann Russell and for twenty two years raised two handsome little boys, David Jr. and John. This industry would have his family moving all around the country, first Atlanta then West Virginia, Detroit, Louisiana, and finally Brandon, MS. where he retired. After retirement David moved to Gulfport, MS. A city in which he loved to visit and attend shows at the casinos, his favorite performer being Mickey Gilley. David loved Nascar, he enjoyed going to the Daytona 500 and once was allowed the opportunity to drive Buddy Baker's car around the Atlanta International Speedway! Despite where work took David, he bled Atlanta Falcons football and Braves baseball, always rooting for the HOME team. With a love for Lake Lanier, he bought a house there so that he and his boys would always have a place to go for skiing, boating, and fishing, a past time they will cherish always. In 2011, David would reconnect with his high school sweetheart, Ms. Sandra Melton, and follow her to the Gulf coast after retirement where they spent their last few years they had, together. David will be missed by many and remembered most as a loving dad and granddad. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Winnie (Bagley) Rickett. Left to cherish his love are his siblings Danny Rickett of Roswell, GA and Sally Rickett of Atlanta, GA; his two sons David (Nara) Rickett, Jr. of Rancho CucaMonga, CA and John Rickett of Banger, PA; one granddaughter Michelle Lightfoot of Ranch CucaMonga, CA; and his sweetheart Sandra Melton of Gulfport, MS. David's wishes were to be cremated and scattered at Lake Lanier, which his two boys will be honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Rickett family and would ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come.
