Thomas Blackwater were born about 1807. He died in Oklahoma on June 7, 1920. He was 113 years old when he passed away. He was the husband of Annie Blackwaters who preceded him in death in 1912. He was soldier in the United States Army during the civil war. He was in the 113th Regiment of the United States Colored Troops. He is buried at Brazil Cemetery in Oklahoma in LeFlore County. He was also a Choctaw Freedmen. He is listed on the African-American Civil War Memorial in Washington DC as Thomas Blackwater he is on plaque #D-111.

113th Regiment, United States Colored Infantry (New Organization) Organized April 1, 1864, by consolidation of 11th United States Colored Troops (Old), 112th United States Colored Troops and 113th United States Colored Troops (Old). Attached to 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 7th Corps, Dept. of Arkansas, to August, 1865, and Dept of Arkansas to April, 1866. Duty in Dept. of Arkansas. Mustered out April 9, 1866.

He was also a Choctaw Freedman. He is on Choctaw Freedmen Census Card #1469, his roll number was #5065.
